Ingredients required for cooking Goan Prawn Pulao
- Green masala made with tomato, green chili, coriander, mint leaves, and fresh coconut
- Aromatic spices such as cloves, black peppercorns, cinnamon, green cardamom, bay leaves
- Oil and ghee
- Spice powder such as Kashmiri Red Chilli powder, Coriander powder, and Garam masala
- Ginger garlic paste
- Lime juice
Here, we are making the dish with 250 gm. of prawns. Before you start, make sure to remove the black vein from the upper portion of the prawn properly. For it can cause allergies to some people. Peel the skin well.
Now, wash one and a half cups of rice well and soak it in 4-5 cups of water for 20 minutes.
add ½ cup chopped tomato, ¼ cups chopped coconut, 2-3 green chili, ¼ cup mint. Grind them together. You may add 2-3 tbsp of water to make a smooth paste.
Next, heat 1 tbsp oil along with 1 tbsp ghee in a pan. When the oil gets hot, add 2 bay leaves, 2-3 whole cloves, 4 peppercorns, 1-inch piece of cinnamon stick, 2 whole cardamoms, and 4-5 cashews. Add ¼ cup of the onion and fry for 8-10 minutes.
Add 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste and stir for another 2-3 minutes.
Add 1 tsp red chili, 1 tsp coriander, ½ tsp turmeric powder, and cook them for another 2-3 minutes.
Once the gravy is ready, mix the prawns with 1 tsp lime juice, ½ tsp Garam masala, and salt.
Add rice with 2 and a ½ cup of water and cover the pan with a tight-fitting lid. (This measurement is essential) Cook it for 20-25 minutes. When it is prepared, rest the pulao for 5 minutes before you serve hot with salads.
