Saucy and flavourful Shrimp Marinara

This super easy and quick recipe of Shrimp Marinara is infused in flavours, simple marinara sauce with tasty sautéed shrimps. For shrimp and pasta

  • Spaghetti noodles -8 ounces
  • Peeled ,deveined shrimps -1 pound
  • Dried basil – 2 teaspoon
  • Butter or olive oil -2 tablespoon
  • Parmesan cheese for garnish

For marinara sauce

  • Fire Roasted tomatoes -4
  • Olive oil – 2 tablespoon
  • Garlic powder – 2 teaspoon
  • Balsamic vinegar – 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh basil leaves – 8
  • Dried oregano – 1 teaspoon

Step 1

In a large pot add water and to it add salt, bring it to a boil and add the pasta to it. Let the pasta boil until it starts becoming tender. Then drain the water from the bowl and leave the pasta in a strainer.

Step 2

In a medium pan, heat the butter on a medium heat. Cook the shrimps for 1 to 2 minutes each side until each side is almost cooked. Remove the shrimps from the pan leaving the juices of the cooked shrimp in the pan.

Step 3

In the same pan add the marinara sauce ingredients i.e.  Olive oil, the roasted tomatoes, garlic powder, balsamic vinegar, fresh basil leaves and dried oregano. Make sure that you scrape the bottom of the pan if any bits of the shrimps are leftover. Bring the sauce to a simmer, then cover and cook for 15 minutes.

Step 4

Now when you see that the marinara sauce is getting denser and is almost ready add the shrimps to it, give them a good mix and remove the pan from the heat. That’s it you are done with your cooking. Now serve over pasta and topped with Parmesan cheese (optional) and chopped basil on the top.

Here is an important tip if it is not possible for you to purchase the shrimps on the same day you cook , you can even purchase it in advance from the best shrimp providers, then you can get the frozen shrimps and place it overnight in your refrigerator and thaw them when you are ready to cook. In order to thaw the shrimps you can place the frozen shrimp in a large bowl of water. Stir the bowl every 5 minutes to break up clumps of shrimps that freeze together.
