Shrimp Jambalaya Recipe

Seafood is love for many around the world. A variety of recipes can be availed from this category which includes prawn, shrimps, crabs, and many more.   1. 500 grams of shredded deveined, tail removes shrimp along with 5 cups of broth.
  2. Corn, peanuts, and vegetable oil (every 2 tablespoons).
  3. Flour 2 tablespoons.
  4. Finely chopped onions, green onions, green pepper, and celery (each 1 cup).
  5. Minced garlic 1 tablespoon.
  6. Cooked ham ½ cup cut into 2 pieces.
  7. Crushed tomatoes 2 cups.
  8. ½ teaspoon dried thyme.
  9. Crushed oregano 1 teaspoon.
  10. Uncooked long-grain rice 1 cup.
  11. Salt and pepper according to taste.

Ingredients are ready—now how do you cook?

Now when the ingredients are ready, first prepare the shrimp broth by adding salt if required. Otherwise, salt can be added later on while cooking. Keep aside the boiled broth and hit a frying pan on medium flame with 2 tablespoons of oil in it. First, lightly fry the minced garlic. Pour the flour and stir constantly until it turns light brown.

Next to this add the finely chopped vegetables viz. Corn, peanuts, onions, green onion, and tomatoes one by one and repeat stirring until lightly boiled.  As soon as the vegetables are semi boiled add the rest of the ingredients one after another, thyme, oregano, salt, and pepper according to taste.

Then add the uncooked rice and shrimp with 5 cups of the shrimp broth and keep stirring uncovered for 25 minutes at a medium or low flame. Keep cooking until a thick and creamy consistency and texture is arrived at. When the fragrance is released and it looks eatable, pours down the whole dish in a separate bowl. Garnish and season with chopped green onions and a pinch of black pepper to render a yummy look to it.

The dish can be reheated in a medium flame in a skillet or microwave according to the requirement. But the dish must not be frozen since it kills the taste of the recipe and shrimps become hard in a fridge. Shrimps and prawns can be availed easily from any nearby store or supermarkets along with the other ingredients.
